1999. I'd heard about the Sematur ferry that crosses the Sea of Cortez from Guaymas to Santa Rosalia. So I took a bus from Mexicali to Magdalena where I spent the first night. Before I left the next morning I visited the Tomb of Donaldo Colosio who was assasinated in Tijuana during the 1994 Presidential Campaign and Padre Kinos mausoleum. The mural depicting his work is painted overhead. When I arrived in Hermosillo (below right) all the museums were closed so I went on to Guaymas and spent the night there. The next morning I boarded the ferry to Santa Rosalia. |

I spent one full day in Santa Rosalia. The next morning I took a bus to Mulege (below right). |

I stayed at Juanita's Casa de Huespedes. The mission sits on a bluff above the Rio Mulrge. The best part of living in Baja, for the kids at least, is meeting all the gringos who come to town |
