June 2005-Mark and Jamael visited me in Calexico. I took them to the In-Ko-Pah Park Desert Tower and the Rock Caves nearby. Bert Vaughn of Jacumba built the stone tower in 1922-23 to commemorate the pioneers and railroad builders who opened the area. In the 1930s W.T. Ratcliffe carved the stone animal figures in the rocks surrounding the tower, creating a world of surprise and strange beauty. This sculptural assemblage is one of California's best folk art environments. Location: Imperial County.  On Old Hwy 80, 1 mi N of I-8 and In-Ko-Pah Park Rd interchange, 7.0 mi NE of Jacumba. Later we went to Truck Museum in Campo.
