April 2005-Mark, Gwen Manuel, Candice and I took a road trip to the Las Vegas outback north of Las Vegas on HWY 92. Above is the Caliente Railroad Depot. Below is Cathedral Gorge. It was Seydeanna's first road trip.
The Desert Wetlands Park is southwest of downtown Las Vegas. The entrance is behind the UNLV Bowl. The Wash is a 2,900-acre seven- by one-mile nature and wildlife habitat viewing area bordering both sides of the Las Vegas Wash as it flows past Frenchman Mountain and the red sandstone of Rainbow Gardens on its way to Lake Mead. The Las Vegas Wash is the final link in the Las Vegas Valley’s water supply. It carries the valley’s excess water – an average of more than 150 million gallons a day – through the wetlands on its way to Lake Mead.
